Hello! Is Anybody listening?

A funny thing happened recently. Actually, it is not very funny, but it is quite amazing. Sometimes we wonder if God hears our prayers and if He really cares and really does something about it. My four year old was getting bored because preschool is out for the summer. He was missing all of his little buddies and frankly was beginning to drive me crazy. So, I prayed that God would bring him a friend to play with. Little did I know what God had in store for us. It was a beautiful day so we headed out the door to take a walk in our neighborhood. As we passed a house down the street a boy and his parents were out on the front lawn. We said hello and they invited my son to play with them. That was a few weeks ago and ever since then my son has been playing with this boy practically every day. Not only that, but God has provided several other opportunities for him to make other friends as well. When I uttered the words, "Lord, please bring Noah a friend." I never imagined that God would answer my prayer so soon. A simple little request did not go unnoticed by our awesome God. He cares about my son. He cares about me and He certainly cares about you and your life. Take a moment to present your requests to God. There is nothing to mundane or small. God cares about it all!

The Rainbow Connection

Friday night as my family was driving home there was a severe thunderstorm to the south and sunshine to the north so we began looking around for rainbows. To the east of us, we saw the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen in my life. It was so big and clear. I could see the entire arch. As I gazed upon this radiant miracle, I remembered how God told Noah to remember the promise never to flood the earth again. Remembering this covenant from God gave me a sense of awe and love as I felt encumbered by God's love. I felt protected by his mighty power. I was amazed. The rainbow seemed to reach across the sky and protect me from all the bad things of this world. At that moment I connected with God. I felt safe that the God of the universe who created such a magnificent sight also created me and loved me just as He also loves you. Next time you see a rainbow, I pray that you also will have a rainbow connection with God.
